Trip Hop’s Newest Face, Maroon Mood

“Tear Me Apart” is the second single ever from singer-songwriter and producer Maroon Mood. While very early in her career, she’s creating music with an assured sound that pleases those with moody sensibilities.

The PG County native explores whichever genre calls to her, but often traces her roots back to alternative, trip hop, and indie.

Maroon Mood’s debut single “Good Girl/Bad Girl” entranced with a deep, brooding bassline and echoey vocals that put you in the mind of the soothing “music playing in another room” YouTube compilations. These same elements fittingly come out to play in “Tear Me Apart” as listeners are made to feel like they’re flipping through the diary pages of a mentally beat down lover, “She’s a fairytale, devil to my hell / Pretty siren in the sea, lipstick lesbian / Keeper of my sanity, my vanity, giver of insanity.” Maroon Mood spoke to FOTB exclusively about the record, “‘Tear Me Apart’ comes from a sensitive place after witnessing an extremely volatile relationship that was taking place in my home.”

The customary eclecticism of trip hop and poeticism of indie fit the burgeoning artist like Cinderella’s lone glass slipper.
